PA “Belarusian Wrestling Federation”
The public association “Belarussian wrestling federation” took responsibility for development of freestyle wrestling and Greco-Roman style wrestling in the Republic of Belarus, in 1998 it begun to develop female wrestling.
From 1992 to 2011 the sportsmen of Belarus participated in all largest international competitions hold under the aegis of the International federation of associated styles of wrestling (FILA).
The chairman of “Belarussian wrestling federation” from 1992 to 2008 was the 3 times Olympic champion, the deserved master of sports, Alexander Vasilevich Medved. In December, 2008 at report and elective conference Jury Aleksandrovich Chizh was elected as the chairman of the federation, and A.V.Medved at extraordinary conference in June, 2009 was elected as the honourable chairman of Belarussian wrestling federation.
In September, 2012 Minsk City Center of Wrestling Olympic Reserve named after A.V. Medved was opened in Minsk. Children’s groups in main types of wrestling work in the Center. WRESTLING HALL “The Hall of Wrestling Glory” is the unique museum exposition, which keeps sport prizes of famous Belarusian sportsmen. It has to return past glory of Belarusian wrestling.
