National team of Belarus won 15 medals at the open national sambo championship
At the 16-th national sambo championship for the prize of the president of Belarus the hosts of the tournament won 15 medals (6 gold, 4 silver, 5 bronze medals). The contest took place in Minsk palace of sport on February, 23.
The winners of the tournament were Belarusian sambo wrestlers Andrey Kurlypo (weight category up to 52 kg), Vahe Toutkhalian (up to 62 kg), Alexander Kokshe (up to 68 kg), Alexey Stepankov (up to 82 kg), Eugeniy Syomochkin (up to 100 kg) and Yuri Rybak (over 100 kg). The silver medalists were Ivan Aniskevich (up to 57 kg), Igor Sedoi (up to 68 kg), Alexei Romanchik (up to 74 kg) and Vasily Kuznetsov (up to 100 kg). The winners of bronze medals were Narek Arakelyan and Dmitry Aleksashin (both - up to 52 kg), Arif Bagirov (up to 57 kg), Igor Moshko (up to74 kg), Suleiman Askerov (up to 100 kg).
The representatives of Azerbaijan, Bulgaria, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Moldova, Latvia, Morocco, Serbia, Turkmenistan, South Korea, Greece, Ukraine, Lithuania, Russia, Uzbekistan, Turkey, Romania, Tajikistan, Armenia and Iran participated in the open national sambo championship. The fifth consecutive year the tournament was held in the status of the World Cup and became one of the stages of selection for the European Championships (May 15-19 in Moscow) and the World championship (9-11 November in Minsk).
Followed by Belarus (6 gold medals, 4 silver, 5 bronze) in the medal standings settled Russia (1, 2, 3), Kazakhstan (1, 2, 0), Georgia (1, 1, 3) Ukraine (0, 0 and 6) and Bulgaria (0, 0, 1).
